Deck Renovation Project

Our recent deck renovation project showcased our commitment to quality craftsmanship and innovative solutions. The project involved several key tasks that transformed the space into a beautiful and functional area.

Hot Tub Removal

The project began with the removal of an existing hot tub, which was positioned in a cutout with its own free-floating support structure. This task involved dismantling both the hot tub and a significant portion of its support structure. The removal was meticulous to ensure the safety and stability of the remaining deck.

Rebuilding Decking Slats and Supports

With the hot tub and most of its support structure removed, we proceeded to rebuild the decking slats and supports. To ensure a cohesive look, we painted the newly constructed sections, blending them seamlessly with the existing deck. However, we strategically retained a triangular section of the hot tub support, as it provided crucial support to the decking, preventing it from sagging.

Frame-Style Decking Fill

Instead of attempting to blend new decking with the aged, existing planks, we opted for a frame-style fill for the new decking. This approach ensured a visually appealing and seamless transition between the old and new sections. Matching the weathered decking would have been challenging and unsightly, so the frame-style fill was a practical and aesthetic choice.

Enhancing Support Beams

To further enhance the deck’s aesthetic appeal, we collared all decking support beams at their bases and painted them. This not only provided a fresh, unified look to the entire area but also reinforced the structural integrity.
